The origin story of the ‘Magic Custom Portal’

Ok, so as usual, I’ve been plotting my revenge…oh wait…wrong blog… 

Obviously joking, anyway, I’ve (Abram and I) have been working on a prototype for some super cool earring stands. I wanted a stand because I accidentally ordered JUST the hangers online like a dumbass lol. Then, the human I’ve probably known the longest in my life outside of a family member, asked me where I got the hangers, and if I sold them. I sent her some links and told her to read the descriptions better than I had. She said she needed some for all her earrings she has been ordering from me. I purchased a file on Etsy after trying to make one myself. I knew the measurements needed to be perfect, so I gave up, and just bought the outline of the rack and hangers. Sometimes, it’s just more efficient to buy someone else’s base blueprint, that way I can spend my time on the modifications. 

The first one we tried was an EPIC FAIL. I used wood that was too thin, thought the bottom piece was the top, and had shit upside down. Ole girl was flimsy as shit, because like I said, the measurements needed to be PERFECT. 

I messaged the Etsy Seller, they were amazing! I told them what kind of material I used, what kind I like to work with, and asked them if they had any compatible files in their shop. They replied instantly & sent me adaptations to the connecting spots for free.

So, Abram who is my lovely husband, a golly giant who works in the Whimsy Factory, and happens to have a degree in mechanical engineering, got to working up some measurements and adaptations to the file I purchased. I wanted the racks to be able to be sturdy, shipped flat, customizable, and assembled in its new home! I was already working on a more complicated decorative design.

Abram did a couple test cuts, material tests, I kept designing. We came up with an awesome prototype that I am going to work out design templates for. 

I’m thinking there will be a few design options will be available at first, but like always the option to contact me to discuss a fully customized order will be available. This led me to the idea to make my other wares have their own custom section spot, as well. Earrings are always available to be customized! All you have to do is go to the contact section, but wouldn’t it be easier if it was all in one place?

So I’ll be working on adding that section as well. You’ll be able to choose the print/pattern, shape, size, earring type, earring metal color, basically everything. You will also be able to choose NEW types of wares! Just like the photo says, necklaces, and bracelets are entering the chat. If you’ve made it this far I’ll give you a lil treat…you can totally already order a custom Whimsy Wares Necklace or Bracelet…it’s all about that contact section, or just slide into my DM’s on Instagram! Also, I’ll give you a hint on one of the “and more…” custom options…you may have to wait until we get closer to snow and ice…but I won’t care if you were naughty or nice…
